Club Competitions
The Shirley Tennis Club also runs a number of tournaments/championships during the season. These Championships are available to ALL playing member categories They are as follows:
Club Championships
Members can enter into Club Champs for the following grades. Draws will be made by the Match Committee and posted on display at the Club.
16 NOVEMBER 2025 - Men's and Ladies Singles
10 JANUARY 2026 - Men's and Ladies Doubles
11 JANUARY 2026 - Mixed Doubles
Soon after the closing date for entries the draws are made by the Match Committee and posted on display. The appropriate dates will be advised well in advance and are included in the new season handbook by the start of each season.
Senior Handicap Championships
These Championships are available to all senior members with all matches played being first to 21 (or 31) points on a handicapped basis. The handicapping system is designed to give everybody an even chance to win despite different levels of ability.

This trophy is played for by all female members who did not win a trophy last season including new members.
Bill McIntosh Trophy

This is our annual over 35's mixed doubles tournament. All members over 35 are entitled to enter and choose their own partners.
Gwen Fry Trophy
This is a mid-week competition played on the first Tuesday of the month over 4 consecutive months. The most points accumulated over the 4 playing days wins the trophy.
Colleen Pyne Trophy
This is a mid-week competition played on one Tuesday morning in conjunction with organised Tuesday morning play.
Parent/Child Trophy

A handicapped Parent/Child Tournament has become an annual event over the last few seasons and has been a real success. All Senior and Mid-Week members are entitled to enter irrespective of whether their children are members of the Club.
